Recommended Books

These are a few books that I recommend if you would like to explore  a more whole food vegan, gluten free and raw diet. I hope you enjoy!

Gluten Free Baking:

  • Ratio: The Simple Codes Behind the Craft of Everyday Cooking by Michael Ruhlman
This book is great for beginners and veterans alike to gluten free baking and baking in general. I love that Michael gives you the ratios and the tools you need to be able to create your own recipes from these ratios. He does supply a few recipes to get you started and a lot of them are not vegan, but with a few veganizing tricks, you are good to go; and the veganized results using these ratios are pretty spot on. Whole Foods Vegan Cooking:

  • The Oh She Glows Cookbook: Over 100 Vegan Recipes to Glow from the Inside Out by Angela Liddon
I have to tell you. I love this book. The pictures are amazing, the advice and general introduction is amazing for whole food vegan beginners, and the recipes look absolutely amazing! I haven't yet tried any recipes from this book yet, but I have tried some of her recipes on her website and they were awesome! Go check it out!

  • Cooking the Whole Foods Way: Your Complete Everyday Guide to Healthy, Delicious Eating with 500 Vegan Recipes, Menus, Techniques, Meal Planning, Buying Tips, Wit, and Wisdom by Christina Pirello
This book is an oldie but a goodie. It has so many recipes and techniques and was one of the first vegan cookbooks that I owned. It really has inspired me and it still a go to book for me even after 6 years. It does contain quite a few wheat based recipes but it has a tremendous amount of gluten free ones also. It's also very macrobiotic friendly, if that is what you're also into. Some of the baked goods recipes do have expensive and odd ingredients but I think these recipes still evoke inspiration and a love of cooking.
